I think a "real" parent has alot to do with the actions taken.

i lost my native american indian grandfather 2 years ago...see, my grandmother was more like a mother to me than my mom, and he was really the best male influence in my life....i.e., my stepfather(wealthy, powerful, and evil...EXACTLY like J.R. Ewing from the popular american tv show, DALLAS, in the 80's) was abusive to both us kids AND my mother. both he and my mother didn't allow me to visit my bio father-- a pretty decent guy--very often, so my bio father wasn't really an influence in my life, until i became an adult. and even then, we haven't grown that close mostly due to the miles between us.
my grandfather, Papo--as we mispronounced 'opa' from the beginning as little ones--wasn't my 'real' father, but the closest i would ever get...and i miss his :meditating: spiritual guidance :meditating: so much, sometimes.....but then i remember all that he taught me and realize that part of him is still with me daily...
